September Cancer Awareness Month
Julian Thomas Ross came into this world on May 14, 2005 with a heart of GOLD. Julian was special in many ways; and in a short time of 10 years we discovered why. Julian was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma on August 4th, 2011 at just 6 years old. Julian battled courageously for 4 long, trying years. At the young, brave age of just 10 years old, Julian “won” his battle and was peacefully called home on August 8, 2015 at 3:30AM. Even death could not stop his involvement - All of Julian's blood and tumor tissues were donated to the Neuroblastoma Lab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to find a cure for this devilish disease. During Julian's many visits to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, his favorite part was the Treasure Box at clinic. As of last year, we added on St. Christopher's Hospital.
During his last few visits at CHOP, it was always empty. This made Julian sad but he became determined to fill it. He would set aside toys purchased for him and collect happy meal toys and bring them in when he went and placed them in the treasure box. Sadly, Julian lost his battle without ever filling the treasure box. To honor him, every year in September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we want to OVERFLOW the treasure box at the clinic with toys! Two years ago we had over 900 toys. Last year we had 2,000 toys. All toys collected will be delivered on the last day of September. No child should ever fight alone.
Our children are worth more than the 4% share of cancer research dollars. Please get involved, make a change.
